Dedicated to my compatriots murdered in Egypt

We display below two interesting Egyptian banknotes, on which it is shown the statue of the legendary pharaoh, a member of the 18 Egyptian dynasty that reigned between 3500 and 3300 years ago.

The archeological funds of the 18 dynasty are mostly from gold, because the gold was considered in the antique Egypt as the color of the immortal sun and was therewith the symbol of the rebirth thereafter,

The Sharjah and Empire Centrafricain stamps and the sheet were issued by countries that aren't very appreciated by the serious stamp collectors, but we show them because of their nevertheless nice images. They shows some of the archeological funds found in the tomb.

Just to mention that there are known Sharjah stamps that were forged (!) in order to satisfy the tourists' demand  in Egypt.

The stamp showing th king is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb.

The below covers were issued in London and commemorate the 1972 Tutankhamun exhibition. The cover on the right is a last day issue.

Now follows a short explanation of the dedication put on the top of each page, In November 1997 a terrorist group that was allied with Osama bin Laden attacked and killed 58 Asian and European tourists in the Valley of Kings in Luxor. Four Egyptians also died in the attack. Most of victims were my Swiss compatriots, to the memory of whom I dedicated these pages. RIP. It was said in the Switzerland media that this exhibition is a sort of compensation of the Egyptian government, that wasn't able to protect our innocent tourists against the organized terror and barbarianism.

Other sources of these pages are the article "Tutanchamun in Basel", published in SBZ 5-6/2004, and the site of the Basle exhibition, at: http://www.pzi.ch/AEGprod/ . Many thanks to Rodney (RCSD newsgroup) for the images of the Centrafricain set.
