Thaematic Stamp Collecting
Thematic collecting, also known as topical collecting: The form of collecting stamps to a theme as against country or geographic area.
Thematic philately: Competitive thematic collecting (after The Guide for the Development of Philately, UPU, WADP).
The collecting of topical stamps covers such specific subjects as arts, environment, animals, plants, sports, ships, music, space and many, many others.
Through this menu point I introduce my visitors to another philatelic domain that interests me for a long time, the general thematic stamp collecting. The main purpose of the pages that (will) follow is the promoting of this very interesting discipline of stamp collecting. I will try to show here not only nice stamps (like on this page :), but also deliberate, hopefully helped by guest journalists, upon the present and future of thematic collecting, point toward eventual abuses and abusers and show our hobby from sometimes unusual angles.
In 1998 the webmaster of this site has founded a general Topical Stamp Collectors Club on Yahoo. The club is very successful and is continually growing, being joined by over 200 stamp collectors so far. The admission is and will stay free. Anyone can join it and discuss their preferred topic, can try to sell/buy/trade stamps or to simply chat with the members. You can visit (and eventually join) the Topical Stamp Collectors Club at:
